See New Writing and Inspiration.

Hi, fans. I am working on other writing projects.

This wonderful 365 days experiment ended after a few more than 365 Days. I am fast working on my New York Stylist blog and planning a vintage voyage, which will basically be an excuse to talk more fashion--what else? I'll be using my new Leica digital camera, as soon as I read the manual. Should be fun, so stay tuned.

Here are a few of my latest style inspirations and investments:

embellished flapper hats (1920s)
shiny green leather (contemporary)
Marni (contemporary)
yellow velvet capes (1930s)
black and white accessories
oxblood hermes kelly bag (1960s)

For vintage with tomorrow in mind, visit my blogs. Till soon.

Petria as Style Forecaster: Layered Cape.

I cannot immediately recall who is doing it at the moment, but I've seen a version of this Civil War era cape (with newer lining) in very recent magazine ads.
My cape was photographed for this blog in January and by Patrick McMullan 1.5 years ago in New York City.
Another example of Petria forecasting.

Petria as Style Forecaster: Prada Textile

If you were reading this blog in January 2007, you would have seen these pants. Now, look at the textiles at the centerpiece of Prada's current Fall collection. Look familiar?

Just another example of the forecasting that has occurred on this blog over the last year.

Petria as Style Forecaster: Fendi Coat

Here is another example of my forecasting capability, as shown on this blog in December 2006.

I sold this vintage fox fur coat online in January. I had worn it the winter before. I loved it.

Fendi is now making a strikingly similar version of this coat. The fur is different (this one is fox) and the Fendi fur is a bit longer. This is a bomber.

Petria as Style Forecaster: Moschino's New Dress

This cape has been re-rendered as a Moschino dress, on view everywhere. The weave is exactly the same.
Worn in New York City in October 2006 (picture in Brooklyn Heights). Shown on this blog on October 17, 2006.

Petria as Style Forecaster: Shiny Leather

As you know by now, shiny leather (patent, crackled, "waterproof") is now all the rage. I wore this coat on

Petria as Style Forecaster: YSL Skinny Mink Scarf

One of the year's greatest hits on this blog.

I loved this scarf last winter and got some wear out of it before Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) created a version of it, now available in stores and on view in magazine editorials. I also sold a few. My thought was that fur accessories and trim are more fun than big, statement-making full furs. Like the recent hat, I wore it all over downtown New York City.

365. I am Set to Jet, So See You Soon.

Labor Day 2007

The green entrance to the property of Arden Mason and Leslie Watkins well signifies the end of summer season.

Since not everyone wants to wear a uniform, here is a vintage metallic dress from Henri Bendel offered at Petria Boutiq. Add a Tibetan hat and Issey Miyake bag (stylist's own, purchased in Tokyo) and you're set to jet.

I will soon be photographing elements of fashion in New York City and beyond.

Trend report: Of course, my forecasting won't always be free, but I will reveal this: you'll soon see others jumping on the uniform/military/safari bandwagon. I'll give it six months to enter the mainstream and become an editorial focus.

Girls of every age love their shoes. These are the first and second pairs of cowboy boots owned by Miss Ellis Bristow, kindergartner. She loves them very much and still tries to wear the wee pair from time to time.

In keeping with my current anthem, here are elements of my uniform where accessories count most and the clothes tend toward neutral, especially in color.

Jean-Paul Gaultier Pants, inspired by Asian design
Dries van Noten top
Vintage "Uniform" jacket
1930s hat
YSL belt (from collection of Ms. Nan Kempner)
Balenciaga boots

Petria Boutiq 365 Days of Style
End of Season,
End of 365 Days

As we near the end of this beautiful experiment called 365 Days of Style, here are a few photos.
The FunRaiser fashion show on Sunday, Sept. 2, felt a success in collaboration. I added drama with vintage outerwear (and the pictured 1970s Chanel dress, available at Petria Boutiq); Mikki Brown brought simply beautiful clothes from The Browns in Williamstown, Mass.; Sim's Barbershop made hair gorgeous; Halle managed everyone, just as she does to great effect at Allium Restaurant in Great Barrington, which offered its space for the occasion.

Tune into New York Stylist. http://newyorkstylist.blogspot.com. New York Stylist will launch with Fashion Week photos and commentary.

Fashion tip: wear colorful slips under black and white lace. I enjoy red.

I like strapping thin necklaces across my body. It is so much more fun than simply letting one hang low. T-back dress with red beads strapped around like ammunition. I haven't seen this before and I like it. Another nod to the uniform.

Here is Audrey, an Oberlin student. Audrey just got her dream job working in the war room for the Clinton II campaign. Needless to say, she'll be taking the year off from school. She found an outfit from Petria Boutiq that she hopes to wear for her first day of work. It's pretty cool, but I think she will make it work in D.C. where the menu calls for "business casual."

Here is Arvolyn Hill. Arvolyn was chosen as the person of the week online by Teen Vogue. How sweet. Arvy and her mom Cynthia shop at Petria Boutiq. I received a message this week from Cynthia saying that Arvy chose me as one of her inspirations. When I checked a couple of days later, it said Josephine Baker. I've been confused with La Baker before.

Which reminds me. If you subscribe to Palm Beach, Florida society pages, you'll see my picture there, as well as mention of Josephine Baker. I'll post it soon.
